Quick and Inexpensive Bathroom Updates

Modern Upgraded Bathroom
We all know the two areas in a house that help sell a house are the kitchen and the bathroom. Here we will focus on the bathroom. Even if you do not have the budget or the time to do a full remodel, there are still things you can do to update your bathrooms for very little investment.

Under $25

Have you ever watched one of the home improvement shows on HGTV and the first thing a potential home buyer says is that the bathroom needs to be updated? In the bathroom, the vanity is usually the biggest offender. Modern lighting, sophisticated door knobs and drawer pulls, new faucets with sleek designs and decorative towel bars can all be easily swapped out for minimal cost and effort. Your local neighborhood hardware store or national chain carries a slew of options for a fresh updated look.  Another good place to find inexpensive items is eBay.

Under $50

The second offenders are tile and paint color.  Tile is more time consuming and significantly expensive to replace. But paint color can take an outdated bathroom into the new century. You can usually tell if a bathroom was built in the 50’s or 70’s. Pink and turquoise blue from the fifties; mustard yellow and avocado green from the seventies.  Transform the bathroom into a potential buyer’s personal spa-like oasis, by painting the walls a soft, light diffused color or a neutral shade. Complete the overall effect with brightly colored towels and rugs and a shower curtain in a complimentary color or print.

Under $75

You can also enhance the look of your shower with some new upgrades. Replace your old showerhead with a massaging or rain showerhead to stay in keeping with the luxurious feel. Most are easily installed. Add a shower shelf to keep shampoo and soap tidy and a curved shower rod will add inches of real estate to your elbow room.

Under $100

If you want to make everything match from towel bars to toilet tank levers, accessory suites (consisting of everything but the kitchen sink) can be found for under $100. Check out Home design stores like HomeGoods and Lowes for these decorative finds.
